“I wanted to express my sincere appreciation for all the direction and support Ed has given me in my recent transition. Ed is not the average career coach that will give you patterned advice and set you on your way. Ed will share everything he has and follow you through your entire journey. Ed’s professionalism, knowledge and commitment is something that is beyond compare. Ed opened the doors for me and taught me the skills of networking while introducing me to groups with the same beliefs. I strongly recommend Ed if you are in a job transition or wanting to make a career pivot. I can say with confidence you will not be disappointed, and you are sure to make new friends along your journey.”

What do you do if your industry is saturated with competition and you want to stand out?
To stand out here is a list of to dos: 1. A compelling/well done Linked profile 2. A great 1-Page Bio and resume 3. More than 5000 1st connections on LI 4. A simple yet impactful website 5. Post and make a comment weekly on social media to keep your presence known 6. Rub shoulders with your competition/build alliances 7. Speak - every 3 weeks somewhere in any forum 8. Get documented testimonials ideally on LinkedIn - let others vouch for you 9. OK to say no to potential clients but then point them to others that would be a better fit 10. Write a book and get published 11. Hire a media advisor/publicist and go national 12. Hire a top SEO firm that are also webmasters (hint) 13. Join 1 organization tied to your industry

When should you follow up with employers after an interview?
Big believer of closing an interview strong. Part of a strong close is to ask, "What are the next steps and the timing of when I will hear back? If they say another week (7-days), then you wait. At most firms/organizations, the follow-up will occur by a recruiter/human resources. If no response is given after 7-days, on day-8 send a gentle note inquiring about status to the recruiter. If still no response after 2-days, call and leave a voicemail with recruiter. Then, repeat after another 3-days with an email and voicemail on same day. After 5-days and no response, send email to the hiring manager followed by a voicemail same day asking for status. Let them know the recruiter has been non-responsive.

How can your resume show that you are an effective team manager through change?
First ensure under the specific role, that it clearly states you lead a team of X professionals. I like to see people stay away from, "managing a team". It's a bit old school. But it's important that you quantify breadth and scope of the team. Second, speak to how many people you hired, mentored and trained. Third, speak about learning and development training that you facilitated to help foster and build a stronger team. Example, brought in Stephen Covey's - 7 Habits of Highly Effective People Signature Program. Fourth, let people know if you implemented a team based award program of any kind. Fifth, document how many people got promoted and went on to higher level roles because of your leadership. Lastly, speak to any DE&I training.
